Spent 4 days here recently and can thoroughly recommend. Lovely welcome from proprietors, good chilled atmosphere, and decent breakfast too. Definitely considering another visit.
Stopped here in a campervan. What. A. Spot. Location is amazing as its on the river over looking the bridge. Very quiet. As this is a dark skies location the stars were incredible. Perfect stop over (or longer!) for an excellent base to explore Galloway Forest from. The pub/hotel is excellent. Camping amenities excellent and plenty of space to find a good spot. Whilst we only stayed in the camper I can't comment on the rooms. However, we did book for breakfast the following morning. 10/10 for breakfast. Throughly enjoyed it. Lot's of tea coffee cereals toast jams etc but the full Scottish fried breakfast was excellent, and a good veggie option too. I'm hungry just thinking about it. The owners couldn't have been more helpful. They made us feel very welcome and couldn't do enough. Can't wait to book again and head back. Thank you!
A super certified location site for camping & caravans and motorhomes. Very reasonably priced, very clean showers & toilets. The hotel is open for guests & also dinning if staying in the campsite. A short stroll into the village about 1km away, it has a super arts centre with cafe & toilets. There is a convenience shop too. On a personal note one of the best features is the free fly fishing on the river if staying onsite.
